    No voicemail notification!

Is there a way to turn on voicemail notifications for the voicemail app on the S4? (Without buying visual voicemail?) My phone doesn't tell me when I have a new message.

I have tried going to Settings > More > Application Manager > Voicemail and the "show notifications" box here isn't clickable, even if I try "force stop" on the application.

I've never had a phone that doesn't tell me I have voicemail. What can I do?

    Thanks!

Yes, I restarted and sent myself a voicemail. Still no notifications. Text message notifications show up just fine.

The only thing that comes to mind is to go to settings - my device - tap sound the volume and see if everything looks OK to you. Otherwise I'm not sure why it's happening.

You could always use Google Voice for your VM service also. May not be the answer you were looking for,but if macuser's suggestion doesn't work it's worth a shot. Plus it's free visual voicemail.

I am on Verizon. When I open the default voicemail app, the menu button seems to be disabled here. Menu button works in all of my other apps.

My voicemail notification also just stopped working yesterday with Verizon. I believe it was just after this last time I said 'no' to visual voicemail.

I was having the same problem with my new phone, even though I use Google Voice for v-mail. I found this video

which led me to the voice mail settings menu under the phone app. I then found that my voice mail carrier was set as "my carrier". Once I changed it to Google Voice the notifications started working.
