How to back up entire device

Apologies if this is a repeat question, but....

My S4 is finally complete: new apps, settings, Contacts, pictures, etc. How do I back up EVERYTHING? In Settings/My Accounts/Backup and Reset/ I've got "Backup up my data" to the Google servers checked. Is this all there's to it? But then, I see no way of "restoring" what I've backed up. Help!

    Thanks.

Without rooting, your only options as far as I know are to use Kies desktop software or Helium. Kies will backup EVERYTHING while Helium will only back up apps and data.

Thanks Jet... I suppose I'll try KIES, but strange that the stock Google backup process on the device won't do the job. Oh well.

(Jet engines?? I managed a B-1 bomber jet engine shop back in the day. Nice. But lost a lot of my hearing with B-52 engines, all 8 of them!)

Google will backup which apps you have installed and restore them if you had to do a factory reset or got a new phone. They also backup your contacts if you're syncing them with Google. But aside from rooting, installing a custom recovery, and making a nandroid backup image, Kies is probably your best bet to backup every little thing on your phone. Helium is nice for certain things. Say you did have to reset the phone, you could download angry birds again ad restore its data, so you wouldn't lose your high score

B52's eh? I'd love to wrench on one of those. What a cool airplane.

My Backup Pro also backs up your screens, sms and missed callsand just about everything. It is also a root app for some of it's features.

The easiest and most common way to backup any Samsung device is through Kies, Samsung's personal desktop software. It not only allows you to transfer music, contacts, and photos, and perform device updates, but it also works as a great and simple backup tool.

Hi. I am new to Android and a little confused.
I just moved from an iPhone 5. For that I backed up my phone to iCloud and the PC. One of the reasons that I did this so that if my iPhone OS was totally hosed (say during a software upgrade) and my phone would not boot up, with one click I could restore the phone so that everything on the phone was back the way it was before the problem.
I am looking for the equivalent on the S4. Is there an equivalent? Is Kies that equivalent?
It seems like Titanium backup is not since it looks like it requires that you be ON the phone to run it.

    Thanks

Kies is as close to iTunes backup as you'll get.
