Upgraded from AT&T Iphone 4 to AT&T Galaxy S4 - Have to go into store?

Hi all, nice site! This question is is probably more AT&T specific but hopefully there some of you may have had the same experience with upgrading...

I just used my upgrade to get a Galaxy S4 from AT&T and they mentioned that I need to go into the store so they can transfer everything from my current Iphone 4.

I am not so much worried about my contacts, if I had to just enter them manually into the new phone then that wouldn't be too bad (I have them saved on my Gmail account also so I assume that I could import them from there) but is there any other reason that I should take these into the store instead of just plopping my iphone sim into the new Galaxy?

I think they are both the micro sims BUT I know the Galaxy is capable of 4G and I believe LTE and the iphone 4 was not? Do I need to use a "special" sim card other than the one that is in my Iphone to get the maximum speeds on the new phone?

Hi Merlin and welcome, you are in good company here. There are more and more of us former iPhone users switching to the S4. But be prepared, you may actually have to 'think' a little bit with all the functions and features the S4 can do compared to iPhone. But if your mind became lazy using an iPhone, don't worry, there are lots of folks here who can think for us until we get our brains out of neutral.

Thanks! I already switched from an ipad to a Nexus 7 tablet a few months ago so I am at least a little familiar with the differences. I am soooo glad to be getting totally away from Apple's web

Yes, you will require a new LTE sim card. You can also use the Kies desktop software to help with media transfer

Thanks. I just called the AT&T store and they said I could just plug in the new Sim that they are sending with the phone and then call them for activation. I can sync my contacts via my Gmail account.
