    Battery Life

I keep reading how great the battery life is on the Samsung S4, but I haven't been able to survive a day yet with my current usage model.

I have 2 gmail e-mail accounts, 1 work e-mail account (push every 15min), groupme(This app seems to take up a lot of power), widget locker (seems to take a lot of power).

I use flip board on occasion and play candy crush saga and Rivals at WarL 2084 in the mornings.

My batter can't last a whole day at all... I don't understand why the battery dies so fast... i play with my phone for about 20-30 min in the morning and by the time i get to work, i'm at 78% battery life. I get maybe 10-15 groupMe messages a day.

Any advice? I just read a thread below about Clean Master... Thanks for that great advice. I cleared up some memory.

Use the battery monitor to see what's hogging your power.

Some things definitely use a lot to power: the screen, games, wireless network locations, navigation, etc.

Also note that "a lot of power" is a relative term. Some stuff like the lock screen and the launcher are going to use quite a bit of relative power because they are used all of the time. For example, every time you wake up the phone with the power button, the lock screen is active.

I also use GSam Battery Monitor Pro to get more details about battery usage.

Also, my battery easily lasts all day and then some.

I am a limited user but since I got my phone a few days ago I have been Playing with it and figuring things out. I am getting about 20 hours out of my battery which includes leaving it unplugged while I sleep at night just to see how long it lasts. I do have a lot of things off. I am not using any of the fancy hand gestures or anything like that. Location services off except GPS.

IF your email is being pushed, then it should not be set to check every 15 minutes. Maybe that is part of the problem. It shouldn't check at all if it is being pushed. It will just come to you.

When I get a chance I'm going to do an entire large post on how I get 2+ days on average. I have all those same things off and a 3 minute timeout. I think some may be as surprised at some of the things that don't use much battery as those that do.

Any problem with recharging the battery every night, regardless of how much was the usage?
(Typically, if I start with a fully charged battery by 8 a.m. and shut down by 11 p.m., I have about 40-50% battery charge left.)

    Thank you.

Nope, I put mine on charge with about 40 left every night also.

I've found the screen to be the major battery hog. When I'm home I set it to full bright because it's pretty, but man i can just watch the battery die. Setting the brightness to auto saves a ton of juice.

The built-in auto brightness sucks, that's why I use Lux: Lux

Wow, some of you guys have impressive battery life.

I usually have GPS on, wifi on, bluetooth off, sync and mobile data.

I have brightness at 1/2 instead of auto. Screen turn off at 30seconds. I have a battery monitor.

I've realized that clean master is telling me to close all my apps every once in a while... I used to not do that. Maybe that's a difference in usage model. I don't actually turn off any apps really. I think I just let them run in the background... but it is a pain to close them all the time. Maybe that is something I have to get used to.

I'm assuming you guys who can last all day don't use it as much as I do.

I realize a couple of other things...
I have fairly a decent amount of meetings every day... my screen turns on for all meeting appointments
I get a fair amount of text messages and my screen on for those
I'm not sure what else causes the screen to turn on but all those things probably have something to do with it.

Also, this morning my battery life coming to work was at 87% instead of 78% which is great... I think Clean Master is helping a lot with this cause I close down background programs.

    Battery Monitor yesterday:
    33% already after 6h 16m 26s on battery
    Android System 64%
    Screen 20%
    Media Server 5%
    RAW:2084: 4%
    Android OS 3%
    Device Idle 2%
    cell standby 2%
