    Wi-fi connectivity issues

Is anyone experiencing wifi connection problems with the S4? Picked mine up yesterday and when I connected to my home wifi, it would connect fine and work for a few minutes then completely drop the connection. I would need to disable and re-enable wifi for it to connect again only to have it drop after a few minutes again. This has been going on all night yesterday and all day today. Anyone have any ideas or have these issues?

    Welcome to the forum
I would start with a 1 minute power down of the router then after it's back up and running solid tap the connection tell it to forget then try connecting again. If that doesn't help try inputting fixed IP and DNS info in your connection on the S4.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. Also you might try changing the channel on your router, one of your neighbors may be using the same as you. You can use wifi analyzer to find the best channel.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Unfortunately I am still losing connection. I was however able to connect to my cable company's wifi hotspot and it works fine so it looks like an issue with my wireless router. Looks like it may be time to replace it. I should also mention that I have 2 iPhones, an iPad, and a laptop that connect to the wireless without any problems. Its just the S4 that keeps dropping.

My S4 has been rock solid where ever it connects. I think you're probably right about the router being the cause.

Could the router be set to issue a limited number of IP's causing the phone to get bumped by another device? If you get a new router you may want to consider getting one that can use 802.11ac. They are a little more expensive now but we're all heading that direction eventually.

Before going out and getting a new router you might see if there's an update for your router.

I would also check the router to make certain that there aren't any special characters in the routers SSID or in your password. You also might consider changing the security if you're using WEP, to something like WPA.

Usually the hard reset of the router combined with forgetting the connection and reconnecting works for most cases

The router is an almost 6 year old DLink that hasn't received a firmware update since 2009.
