How do I make my SD card the default storage device for images (Gallery, etc).

I want all my Gallery images on the SD card and not the device. I have tried everything I can think of - including moving the editing apps I use most such as VSCO, Snapseed, etc., to the SD card but all images still seem to save to my device (not the SD card) and the device memory is now almost full while the SD card is almost completely empty. Is there a way to do it that I am obviously missing - or is it not an option?

If not an option, is there any way of backing up images onto the SD card so I can then delete them from Gallery?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forum

With the newer version of the Android OS the ability to automatically save images or anything else to the microSD card has been severely limited and would be on an app by app basis. However, you can move most of the images manually then use an app like QuickPic which can index the files from the SD Card.

Current versions of Android don't support Flash player, try Puffin or Flashfox as an alternative browser.

Thank you for the help and the welcome, @Leeshor Any chance you can tell me how to move the images please? I have investigated and cannot find how to do it. When I select an image, the bottom left menu doesn't actually give a 'move to' option - nor does it anywhere in the device settings.

Use any file manager app - either an included one, or free from the PlayStore, like ES File Explorer. Copy and paste.

Another way to manage the files is to use an app on the phone and browser on your PC. Look at AirDroid or WiFi File Explorer.

Open your Camera, touch the Menu soft key (left lower corner of the phone), go to Settings and then the last tab, Settings, scroll down and set Storage - Memory Card.

This option is "greyed out" and not available. Any idea how to enable it?
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum

That option will not be available if you don't have a microSD card in the slot OR there is something wrong with the card. Did you format the card in the phone and what size is it?

my device has an inbuilt files manager, I go to file manager-options-settings- image directory-SD memory card-(i create a folder) then I press move here
If your device has a file manager, try these steps, these are for the camera images, but some apps which use images, have a setting to direct you to choose a default seting. Othe apps use your device default settings to create image folders on the device or the SD card. I hope these steps are helpful. do you have a default file manager?
