Message notification sounds - adding more

Hi all, new to the forum

Just got my phone last Tuesday so I've had it for only a few days. I upgraded from a Moto Razr, so it's a pretty big jump for me.

So...I'm trying to setup the sound notifications for the text messaging and I see what they have in the phone as default sounds. Is that it? Is that all I get to choose from for the rest of the phones life?

So my question is, can I add to this list?

I've been able to add to the ringtones list for the phone ringer, that was easy. But I don't see a way to do it for the alert messages.

    Thanks.

    Leo

Easiest ways are to download Zedge, or if you have your own tones create a folder in the sd card called media, then within media create two subfolders, one named notifications and another named ringtones. Your phone will automatically search these folders and add the files inside to the list.

Can I do this on the onboard memory or do I have to get an SD card?

I have mine on my sd but I can't think of a reason doing it to the internal storage wouldn't work. Go for it.

I found a folder called notifications that already existed. I placed a ringtone in there and wala... It showed up in the list.

Thanks for the quick response Jetmech.

Great tip Leo, Thanks!! Just added a bunch of custom sounds to this folder - classic sound bites from tv shows and commercials.. I used Handsent SMS to have custom tomes for each but the OEM contacts edit allows for individual message tones so I have set a default for each contact now.

Go to the contacts page and scroll down to find Ringtone.
