Angry [Solved] SD card randomly unmounts/remounts

I'll be in the gallery looking at pics, and i'll get a notification saying that the sd card has been unexpectedly removed. Then within 10-30 seconds it will re-mount its self and everything will be fine for a lil bit.

This SD card is about 2 months old and worked in my last android phone with out any issues. I've taken the sd card back out and put back in a few times hoping that would fix it, but it didnt.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Welcome to the forum.
Have you tried restarting your phone? There also is a possibility that your SD card is getting worn out so you might try reformatting it. Just save all the data to your PC, reformatted then put it back in the phone. I would have to say something on the card may be corrupted, but the card could he going bad. Formatting it will tell you one way or the other. But I still suggest that you restart your phone.

Hi, I agree, definitely reformat the card from the s4 menu (after backing everything off of it). Settings>more>storage>format SD. What capacity and class is the card?

Looks like reformatting the card has worked for the past few days. I hope that was the issue.

    Thanks guys!

    Hi Folks,

I have a San 64g 10 that has the same problems. I tried having the device format the card. It just worked for a day or so and the problem re-appeared again

Appears to trigger when there is intense read or write operations on the card. (Video Recording and Play back for example).

Other things that I tried and didnt work:

    - I tried removing the card, cleaning the pins and re-inserting.
    - Full format (using a windows PC)
    - Prayer

Appears that similar problems exist with SGS3 and SGS2 phones also.

Any help / suggestions would be most appreciated!

    Thanks!

I read somewhere that some SanDisk cards are defective and they'll replace it for you if you contact them. There's a recall of sorts on a batch of them...

    Corrupt and SD unmounted

I have my S4 for 3 weeks now. I use a class10 32gb Lexar SD card. Brand new in the package. I formatted it in the S4.

After a week I got a message on my screen saying it was unexpectedly unmounted. After backing up the files, I took it back to the store and they reformatted it in the phone again. 2 weeks it was good until today, now the card says it is corrupt.

This phone is only 3 weeks old.

    Sad
