How to delete dowloaded photos in gallery

I can not delete photos in gallery. These got downloaded automatically. I cleared the download database and gallery database but the photos are still there in gallery.

Those are "instant upload" pics which are actually not stored in your phone. They are stored in the cloud but not physically in your phone.

    Welcome to the site!

Do those albums have a picasa icon to the bottom left of the thumbnails like below (red arrow)

If so, they are in the cloud and not physically in your phone.

Yes, they all have the picasa icon as shown. Does that mean that I will not be able to take these out of the gallery?

Thanks for the prompt response. Is there a way to get rid of these from the gallery display. This is my first smart phone and I am still a novice using android ( though I do have a Galaxy Tab2 7.0 but I did not have this issue before).

@hatipati, only way to remove them I think is to remove your Google account in Settings/Accounts. Remove and re-add but don't sync Google Pics...

Or you can delete your Picasa pics on the web if that's an option... https://picasaweb.google.com

Hi, and be sure to disable/kill your Picasa Uploader App so it doesn't happen again (assuming you don't use Picasa).

Thanks for your suggestions. If these photos are not physically in my phone, then I should be OK. I will try deleting the Picasa pics.

You don't even have to do that. If you like syncing Picasa pics, but don't want them in the gallery, there's a setting in the gallery for it. Just tap the left softkey then "content to display".

If you don't want them synced, you can edit which items are synced under the accounts tab in system settings.

To prevent all future syncing, open google+ then disable auto-upload.
