    Lock Screen with pin password

    Hi guys,

I'm new to Android platform and Samsung phones. There is something that is really bothering me about the Android Platform which is the lock screen. I can't seem to get any shortcuts or notification or anything when the Samsung S4 is locked with a password. I've seen that this could be done on HTC one and iPhones and Nokia WP8. How do I get it working on the samsung s4?

All I want are shortcuts + notification with pin code. That's it. I can't seem to get it working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

wouldnt setting shortcuts on the lock screen defeat the purpose of locking your phone w a pin? i dont think i understand what option you're looking for.

I just want to see: # of missed calls/text messages/unread e-mails... that's all I'm asking. I don't believe having that kind of information compromises any security.

I also don't believe getting notifications with a locked screen really compromises any sensitive information. I think the option of how secure you want your phone to be should be an option given to the user to decide.

This is super annoying for me. I believe the HTC One can do this, also Iphone/WP8 can also provide this information. Why are Samsung S4 owners prevented from these features?

when i set pin as my lock screen type i still receive banners for missed calls and missed texts, and my gmail icon shows up at the top left for the missed email. if you can view this info when your phone is in swipe mode and you cant see this info when its in pin mode, its possible your carrier may have something to do with it. whos your carrier? i have at&t

edit: when you select pin as your security type, do the missed calls/messages read 0 when you wave your hand infront of the locked screen?

Thanks macuser. I guess I'll just have to get used to the lack of info. I've done quite a bit of research. I think with pin + music player + all notifications/list of exact number of missed text/missed e-mails/missed phone calls will be tough to get on this phone.

also I have come up to the conclusion that I just can't add my work e-mail to my phone. It disables everything basically. I tried a bunch of apps for lock screens. My favorite one is still NiLs which came with the phone. I don't like goLocker or dashclock(because it doesn't have support for @email box).

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to need to get used to some things. I feel the HTC One lock screen is just so much better. It is what I want but unfortunately it isn't offered on Verizon Wireless.

My s4 with Android 4.2.2 will not let me set the lock screen to the dashclock. I am using the corporate PIN option.

    Ideas?
