If I do that, and then restore my google account. Will everything else be restored?
I realize the contacts are linked to the google account but I worry losing something and not getting it back, you know? Any help?
What were you trying to sync with Google when you got the error? I had issues with Google contacts. When I added the acct back on, everything synced correctly. You can try backing up to my backup or another free app before you remove the Google acct. Did you set google to sync when you first got your phone?
edit: and before you import a 3rd party backup, make sure google didnt add everything you thought you lost b/c you might end up with duplicates.

stock at&t s4.
When i first got the phone i synced it up with google, didnt have any problem importing my contacts.
My problem most recently has been with gmail but when i clicked into the synce settings i saw an error message on sync calendar (with the red exclamation mark) and i saw my contacts haven't synced since 5/22. I hit the refresh button with the two arrows in circles and it still says last synced on 5/22/2013. My calendar last synced on 5/23. And my Gmail hasn't synced since 6/5.
I was hoping with auto sync that these would sync on a consistent basis, most importantly with gmail, as I use that primarily on my phone.
click cancel sync at the bottom left and then uncheck and recheck every option to manually sync. google will bring everything synced to the "last synced" date when you add your account back onto your phone.
Still showing last sync dates from 6/5, 5/22 and 5/23 for calendar, contacts, and gmail
The only thing that updated was Sync Picasa Web albums (which i don't use, or don't think I use because i don't really know what it is)
did you add any new contacts/calender since those dates? i wouldnt be concerned w gmail. did you try turning your phone off, pulling the battery, then restarting?
