    Rooted, TWRPed, thanks guys!

Well, that took me about 3 days to decide I couldn't stand running un-rooted and bloated.

Thanks @<a href="http://www.galaxys4forums.net/forum/member.php?u=4" target="_blank">wicked</a>, @<a href="http://www.galaxys4forums.net/forum/member.php?u=3158" target="_blank">Droid</a>Modd3rX, and everyone credited in Wicked's How to Root and [Video] How to Install Recovery stickies!

Now to search XDA for a "Safe to Freeze/Delete" list.

By the way, there don't seem to be many threads here about compatible ROMs. There are only four threads in the CDMA/LTE ROMs forum, and very little mention of people's preferred one, or what ones there are for the S4. I know I can search XDA for that, too, but you know, those people aren't very friendly...

I have seen a couple mentions that CleanROM and CyanogenMOD are available for the S4. I'm running CleanROM on my Nexus, I'll probably try it on the S4, too. But what custom ROM/kernel is anyone else running? What do you like, or dislike, about ones you've tried?

    Thanks
    -Rich

So you updated to VZ latest update and you were able to root with no problems?

Radisson, glad to see you here :-). I'm rooted and on the mdk model. I installed Eclipse, the one dated 7-28 in the title. Loving it so far. I've been thinking about doing some experimenting with different roms, but haven't, yet.

I did, about 30 minutes ago, try a new theme (the only one I've tried so far). I think it's called "cobalt"? Liking the subtle differences it's added.

Really enjoying the s4 after the charge. :-)

I did NOT accept the ME7 OTA because I wanted TWRP. If all you want is root, you can take the OTA first, according to other posts (and I trust the posters).

I'm still getting notifications. I expect that, pretty soon, I'll flash an ME7 custom ROM for the debloat/tweaking benefits, and lose the notifications as a happy coincidence.

Good to see you too, Frank!

Sorry I didn't answer your reply the other day... I was focused on something else and didn't know the answer to a question you asked.

I'm running Apex Launcher, without a theme, for now. On my Nexus I'm running it with Touch Whiz theme.

Love TiBU! Just restored all my games, app+data, from backup made on old Droid Charge (Android2.3.6 Gingerbread). They all run right, & kept prefs & score history!
