None of these things worked for me either. It's happening constantly. It will take me 20 mins to send 2 sentences at times. I guess it's off to AT&T for me as well which is a horrible inconvenience as there's no close store. :/

Don't know what I pressed to do this, have searched all settings etc. and cannot bring the keyboard back.
Hoping some-one can tell me what to do. Thanks.
This worked for me: settings/language and input/ under the default header make sure the 'google voice typin..." block/square is checked. This appears to be a link to the google now app or something else related to the google voice search function.

I have the same problem with my GT I9505 BE, and nothig worked to fix this bug.
anyway, it's a little bit strange because when I write a new message (completing the recepient) the keybord appears.

in the same way, when I maximize the text size (to bigest) and cliked in "enter message" the keybord appears too, and is kept whem minimize...
I tried everything but no factory reset...

    any other solution please?

    thanks

Since "nothing" worked, please list what you've already tried.

    - I dont have the little icon for the mic - is just "enter message" box
    - I clear cache / data in the apps manager in system settings for both keyboard (samsung and swiftkey)
    - "reset settings" from language and input, setting samsung keyboard, reset settings
    - check/uncheck the "google voice typin"

    doesn't work...

Try installing another kb. That might help to "reset" the settings for the others. Otherwise, a factory reset may be in your future.

Thanks, this was very helpful as I'd lost my keyboard too!

    Finding your keyboard

This is my first post to the group. Long story short, I contacted Verizon for help to recover my missing keyboard. Instead of recovering the original keyboard, I was given a new one. I hated it. I did however get enough information to figure out the rep came here and how to find the problem and fix it myself. While the help here is much appreciated, to those of us who aren't that familiar with the setup of a phone, I feel like we're looking at a cryptic tweet rather than an answer.

Here's the problem I had with the above tip: I don't have any tabs and by the time I found it, there is no "clear data" under Samsung Keyboard. However, with some poking around, I eventually found it. I don't know why our phones are different, but I do know that everyone in my family that has an S4, their phone setup looks like mine and my instructions work for them. So for the newbies out there who are confused, maybe this will help.

These instructions are based on what I see on my Samsung Note 4 with the latest update, which at this time is at Android version 6.01.

    INSTRUCTIONS:
    1. Click on your SETTINGS icon.
    2. Scroll down to APPLICATIONS and click on it.
    3. Click on APPLICATION MANAGER.
    4. Click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner and select SHOW SYSTEM APPS.
    5. Under the title Application Manager, make sure the down arrow shows ALL APPS. If it doesn't, click the down arrow and select it.
    6. Scroll way down to SAMSUNG KEYBOARD and click on it.
    7. Click on STORAGE.
    8. Click on CLEAR DATA.
    9. This will clear the cache at the same time. *NOTE!* This will also clear any special presets you may have created! If you don't know what that means, it doesn't concern you.
    10. Exit out of Settings and you will find the keyboard you loved having before it disappeared!

I hope some found this helpful! Anyone and everyone is welcome to copy this to help others.
