If it is like the Note 2, you should be able to long press on the handle (small tab of the side bar) and drag it to whichever side you want it to display on (bottom included)...

Has anyone discovered a way to edit the apps on the sidebar? I can remove or edit the ones already there but can't seem to find a way to add apps direct from the apps menu.
    Thanks

I'm not certain this is the answer you're looking for but not just any app can be added. The app needs to be coded for sidebar compatibility.

Can anyone tell me why I am unable to click multi window through settings or by long pressing the back button. I also tried by the pull down menu and that button is a light green not blue like the unused buttons or bright green like the used. Is there an app that could be preventing usage?

I've tried holding down the back botton and can't get it to work for me. The S4 is my first smartphone, so I have a huge learning curve. The tool bar sort of appeared out of the blue one day, but then disappeared and I can't find it now. And because I bought the phone online, the Sprint store won't help me with anything. Ideas anyone?

Welcome Donnakate, go into settings and uncheck the multi window option and recheck it. It should come back after this.

long pressing the back softkey should make it hide and re appear. it should only take a sec or 2

edit: i need to rewrite my reply. you can either turn multi window from the pull down screen or you can turn it on by going into settings, my device tab, display, and put a check mark next to multi window as grant suggested.
