    Customizing the statusbar

    Hello,
I was wondering if there was a way to have the status bar color clear and to add a custom icon?
On my iPh5 in place of the carriers name I have a custom logo, even though there isn't a carrier name in the statusbar (at least on mine) I'd still like to add it if possible.

    Thanks

Try downloading the Nova launcher. In retrospect, it should have been one of the first things I installed.

Hmm I was using Action Launcher which at this time does not offer that option.
I'm starting to look into rooting but I want to first find a stock recovery image just in case I need or want to go factory out of box,
I've been all over the place and I'm spinning, it doesn't seem like rooting is clear or simple .
    So many ways directions...
    Is nothing easy anymore?

    Thanks

Rooting, installing a custom recovery and making a nandroid backup is almost effortless now. There are tools on XDA that, with one click on your pc, will root and install TWRP or CWM recovery. Making a nandroid is simple as rebooting into recovery and clicking backup. Once you do that you can install the Xposed mod or a new systemui. I chose to stay odexed and use a new systemui.

The way I learned all of this is lurking on xda, then asking questions in a forum like this. Xda can be a hostile place for newbies. We are friendly here. Xda... Not so much (with a few exceptions). But really, if you're up to voiding your warranty, sign up at xda and read, read, read, read, read. Then ask questions.
