    s Translator

    My s Translator hasn't responded since the latest software update. It just says unknown error. I called and was told to factory restore it but I'm not a fan of that idea. And since I'm here why did they release that update? I feel like my S4 is obsolete because of it.

    I'm thinking that they (if "they" were Samsung tech) may know better.
    Which "latest" software update do you have?
    Which model, carrier, etc?
    As to why they released it: you had "them" on the phone, again, best source.
    Please understand that we are a community of S4 owners helping each other out best we can. We are in no way affiliated with Samsung and, as far as I know, they neither participate in nor monitor the goings-on here.
    Therefore we don't have access to information not already available to the public.

    Hoping that someone has an alternative to a reset. :thumbup:

    Hi, welcome to the forum Sluggish (no name calling, so I left the "nut" out)! One thing you might try is going to Settings>More>Application manager>All and clear the cache and data of the the STranslator, that might clear the error.

    Thanks for the welcome. It's a GS4 with Sprint service, SW version L720VPUEMJA, Android 4.3
    I tried a cache clear / data clear on this app with multiple restarts. All I know is it worked perfectly before the update in November. lol I'm sorry if I sounded snarky in my first post ^^ Thanks again for the replies.

    Same problem here... S4 Andoid 4.3 on Tmobile UK I9505XXUEMJ7 and same advice from Samsung. Dont really want a factory reset again had problems doing that in the past when reinstalling my apps.

    Phone is now really sluggish. Slow to switch between views and apps too. Anyone know of any other fixes or is this going to have to be a factory reset job???

    Please help! I am having the same problem. "Unknown error" for a week now. I live overseas and really rely on my STranslator for complicated conversations. I tried what was suggested above and it didn't work. I don't know how to do a factory reset.

    Just download Google Translate app, it works great

    I still can't use s translator. There are other translators but I've been told by Spanish speaking friends the s translator is the most accurate. I've tried everything I can to fix the issue but it's still telling me unknown error. It has to be the phone itself. If it's not the phone itself I hope they're aware of this problem and intend to address it.
