    Best texting app?

I don't have an AT&T texting account (which means I must pay about $.40 for each text msg I get or send). I've used free texting apps on my previous iPhone, like TextNow, Text Plus, etc. This enable free texting using either wi-fi or 3G. Worked well.

So what is a good solution for my S4? There are several app options available, but I'm interested in your opinions. Thanks.

For me, the best app would be the one most of the people you text have. Google is developing it's own texting app for many platforms, this would be something to keep an eye on.

If I didn't have a texting plan, I'd probably use Google Hangouts though, to answer your question.

Current versions of Android don't support Flash player, try Puffin or Flashfox as an alternative browser.

There are other texting apps out there, most are designed for tablets that don't have a data plan. MightyText is a good option as well but you would be texting to a phone number and if that's the case the other end doesn't need the app.

Thanks again, Leeshor. After quite a bit of work this morning, I've tried several apps. Google Voice was a total bust! Tango apparently wants BOTH parties to have Tango. MightyText "apparently" uses the phone's SMS acct to send out messages, thus the charges I want to avoid. Others again wanted BOTH parties to have the same app. But I finally settled on TextNow. I can text ANY number, I get my own text number apart from my AT&T number, doesn't require the recipients to have TextNow, and it's clean, simple, and stable.
    Regards.....
